Privacy Policy
Your Information, Handled Plainly.
The short version: this site collects only what you type into its forms, uses it only to reply and provide services, runs Google Analytics (loaded via Google Tag Manager) to understand site usage in aggregate, and never sells or shares your information. The long version follows. Effective July 2026.
Privacy Policy Details
What's Collected
Form submissions. When you request a website review or send a message, this site stores what you provide: your name, email address, website address, chosen topic, message, and your consent confirmation — along with a timestamp and your IP address, which exist solely for spam prevention and security (rate limiting).
Direct contact. If you email, call, or text, I keep that correspondence the way any business keeps its mail.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, the hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (pages requested, browser type, IP) for security and diagnostics.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it — pages viewed, approximate location (city-level), device and browser type, and how you arrived. This data is processed by Google on this site's behalf and is not used for advertising by HC Web Labs. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by using a content blocker — the site works fully either way.
Content networks. Fonts and icons load from Google and jsDelivr content networks, which receive standard request data (such as your IP address) to serve those files — that's how CDNs work.
Nothing else. No advertising pixels, no fingerprinting, no data brokers, no selling of anything to anyone.
How Your Information Is Used
Your information is used to respond to your inquiry, perform the services you request, keep business records, and protect this site against spam and abuse. That's the whole list.
It is never sold. It is never shared for marketing. It is disclosed only to the service providers strictly necessary to operate (such as the hosting provider, email service, and — for clients — Wave for invoicing and BoldSign for signatures), or if the law requires it.
Retention. Inquiries are kept as ordinary business records. Security logs — the form-submission records that include IP addresses — are reviewed and pruned on a quarterly habit; they exist for spam prevention, not profiling. Want yours corrected or deleted sooner? Email HCWebLabs@heather-cooper.com and it's done, except where a record must be kept for legal or accounting reasons.
Cookies
This site sets two kinds of cookies. One essential session
cookie protects the forms you submit (it powers the security token
that blocks forged submissions); it contains no personal information, does no
tracking, and expires when you close your browser. Google Analytics
cookies (such as _ga, lifespan up to two years)
distinguish visitors so usage can be measured in aggregate; Google receives
this data under its own terms. See the Analytics section above for what's
collected and how to opt out.
Because it is strictly essential — the forms cannot be secured without it — no consent banner is required for it, and you won't find one here. If this ever changes (for example, if analytics cookies are added), this section and the site's consent practices will change with it.
Children, Changes & Contact
Children. This site is a business service directed at adults and is not intended for children under 13; no information is knowingly collected from them.
Changes. If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted plainly, not buried.
